I'm not sure whether Fiskars originally entered the gel pen market for the
teenage girls and their need to write on black paper, or for the
scrapbookers looking for acid-free colorful pens. Either way, their pens
have ended up in to the toy section, the stationary section, and the
scrapbooking section of our local stores. Fiskars produces some fine gel
pens. Their selection includes opaque colored gel pens, neon gel pens,
metallic gel pens, and glitter gel pens. You can find these sold separately,
in packs of five or so, or in the large 48 piece collections. These are
probably some of the least expensive gel pens on the market. Oftentimes
I'm looking for color variety - to match as many papers as I can - and these
pens offer me that.
When stored horizontally, I find the ink to be free-flowing, immediately
available (you don't have to scribble on paper to get it started), and long
lasting. The opaque gel pens are truly opaque - even on black paper, even
the white pen.
Fiskars also makes metallic photo markers. These write on any porous
surface similar to paint markers without the risk of puddling of the ink. They
write on dark and light photos. I've used these with great results on glossy
cardstock and to "color in" my stamping.
