There are a few types of foam stamps on the market for scrapbooking.  You may even find
some over in the home decor section of your  local store.  Foam stamps are usually  a
dense foam shape attached to a foam mount.  These foams are versatile, and work better
for certain projects.

I have shied away from using ink with these stamps.  I know you can - I just find it harder
to keep them clean if they've been inked.  I use paper paints, and acrylic paints and find the
large print it gives very pleasing.  It has a soft, almost faded look, when you use a light coat
of paint on the foam stamp.

Instead of setting up a tray with paint large enough to fit my stamp - I simply brush my paint
on to the foam stamp, and then press evenly on the paper.  This allows me to see and
verify the uniformity of the paint on the stamp before I use it - I can always brush more on
if needed - or brush some off, if it looks "globby", before the stamp is turned over to press.

The reason you may find these stamps in your home decor section - is that these stamps
can be used to stamp on walls - creating a lovely wallpaper effect.  Or just make a butterfly
here or there for accent.  The stamps are interchangeable for their purpose - feel free to
use foam wall stamps in your scrapbooking, and your scrapbooking foam stamps on the
wall!

The reason I don't prefer ink - is that these stamps have a larger surface with fewer close
details.  And I find the ink stains the stamps and they never look clean.  Speaking of clean -
simply wash off the acrylic/paper paint when you are done in clear water - a little mild
detergent, if necessary - rinse thoroughly, and dry.  I let them air dry on their sides.

We'll discuss storing them in the "storage" section.
