Sticker Machines
These are cool gadgets.  By running
something through here - you get a full, even
covering of adhesive.  Your photo, mat,
artwork will lay down and glue perfectly flat
to the surface you are adhering it to.

First the mechanics.  These are manual, they
use cartridges, and you can buy the refill
readily enough (best to use your coupons -
they can get costly!)  You lay your piece to
be glued flat on the insert surface and slide
forward until it touches the adhesive and
'grabs'.  Then simply turn the handle until you
see the object completely extend outside of
the cutting line, and cut.  You object is ready
to use.  If you're not going to use it
immediately - don't remove the plastic
coating.  I make up embellishments, and
store them just like this.  When you're ready
to use them - first peel off the plastic over
coat (if you're not using the 500 model), and
then peel the adhesive cover (wax paper) off.
Position on your paper, set and press.  I do
use a brayer, again, to get a firm seal, get the
air out, etc..

The different sizes of machines lend
themselves to different projects.  I'll glue 3
lengths of ribbon in one shot through the 150
model.  Or a small die cut, or a wallet size
photo.

The 250 is great for die cuts, and
embellishment work.  I love to Xyron (yes, it's
a verb now) the wrong side of a die cut and
then sprinkle on glitter or flocking - to get a
perfectly even cover.  The 250 also seems
the right size, most often, for my journaling
quotes and small mats.

The 500, 505, and 510 get used a lot for my
photos and mats.  I have had trouble with the
500 leaving adhesive on the edges of photos
- so I tend to use it more for crafts than for
archival projects.

The 900 is very useful to me.  Firstly, I have a
Wishblade, and it is so nice to put on a Xyron
layer, and then do my cutting.  Next, I use the
900 whenever I have several bigger pieces,
and I run them all through together.  It saves
time and the cartridge.  I have also
discovered that sometimes it is easier to just
Xyron a whole photo sheet (several pictures
printed out on a 8.5" x 11" piece of photo
paper) - rather than cutting them out and
Xyroning them individually.  Also - Here's a
fun tip - All paper that gets Xyroned scraps
can be used for punches or mats or die
cutting! - They're all ready to use!

Okay, now for the fun stuff.  You can buy
different types of cartridges - not just
permanent or repositional adhesive.  There's
one side laminate - other side permanent
adhesive.  There's two-sided laminate - yes
it's great for real laminating.  Then, there's
one side magnet - one side permanent
adhesive - for making your own frig magnets.
If you make a car magnet (bumper sticker
type) you can run it through the laminate
cartridge first, and make it waterproof!  I told
you they could be fun!
