Scrapping with others

Posted in Paper Crafts at 9:28 am by PaperDesigns

I love scrapping with friends.  I love chatting, and sharing techniques.  I love seeing what they like to do, and it may different or similar to what I like, but it’s all good!  I love the fellowship of scrapbooking – sharing the actual purpose of preserving the memories.

The only thing that may be a negative -  I love the chatting part so much I don’t always get a lot done!  Now I feel the time spent with friends is more worthwhile than my page count, but, I do tend to slow down a bit!

There’s nothing like sharing this wonderful hobby (obsession!)

Time Flies

"Time is a precious thing, never waste it" – Willy Wonka

So the school year is starting, and I’m swamped!  This week is totally shot – but I’m so hoping next week will clear up!  We’ve promised articles on Embossing, Sewing on Pages, Setting Eyelets, and Picking Patterned Papers.  These 4 articles will be available under our new heading "Paper Art Basics".

I keep getting new people signing up for our newsletter, and I feel like I’m really behind getting a new one out.  I think I’ll go ahead and send out an email apologizing for the time lapse on the promised articles.  They are upcoming – it’s just "life" keeps me busy.

 Have a great day!

More Projects – More Gallery Art

Posted in Paper Crafts at 8:07 am by PaperDesigns

Fall is in the air.  This is my favorite season.  I love waking up, opening the outside door and not being blasted with hot air at 6 in the morning!  Okay – it’s Monday, and there is SO much on our docket this week!  I have almost 20 Publisher’s calls to make projects for, we’re going to get those promised new articles written (see previous blog posts), and we’re changing out the Featured Project and the Summer photos.  We had always wanted to change things out monthly – our first month just took a little longer than 30 days!

So, what’s new – the Our Art Gallery will have a lot more in it – I’m just going ahead and posting up all my other art projects.  The Featured Summer Project will be replaced by the Featured Fall project, with new ones after that for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas – and so on – at least monthly from now on!

My ‘to do’ list is so long that I think my job this morning is to prioritize and then ’get r done’ – I love the idea that it will be empty by Friday, but that so rarely happens – because more stuff gets put on it!  But all effort will be made!

The Newsletters will be flying out this week – often – with all the new updates and articles going on!  Feel free to sign up, if you want.

The Updated White Journaling Pens Article

Posted in Paper Crafts at 2:12 pm by PaperDesigns

Is finished!!  And Published!!  White Journaling Pens Article

We were able to buy 4 more white pens (including the elusive Signo by Uniball) and test them.  It was fun conducting a scientific experiment – and writing the comparison article.  My thanks to Jackie, whose kindness in helping and handwriting made the article much better!

I’m working on some submissions for design team applications, and article queries.  Please wish me luck, I’d really love to make it to the next level!

Thank you!

The New Pens Are In

Posted in Paper Crafts at 2:42 pm by PaperDesigns

The new white journaling pens arrived from Jetpens.com.  I can’t wait to test them out!  We now have the Uniball Signo, the Pentel Hybrid, the Sakura Aqualip, and the Pentel Hybrid Gel.  It’s going to be fun updating and adding these 4 new ones to our experiment!  I think we can get it posted tomorrow!  We’ll be using the same writer (her handwriting is much nicer than mine!), the same black cardstock, and the same criteria.  It’s going to be fun – I hope you’ll take a look-see when it’s all done!

For those of you on the newsletter – the update will go out the minute the article is published.

Anyone interested in being on the newsletter roster – the link is a few posts down!

I got rid of Google Ads

Posted in Paper Crafts at 8:01 am by PaperDesigns

I guess I should have done my research better.  Apparently these problems have existed before and Google does nothing to fix them.  Firstly, it was a nightmare trying to keep ads that obviously don’t belong on my site off (medical catheter cutters – under paper cutters, and pens for marking human skin before surgery under journaling pens!)  I am responsible for the content and gateways on my site – and Google took that control away from me.  Adsense is bias against the publisher.  They get their money from the Adwords, but the publisher is the one doing all of the work.  All of their mechanisms are controlled by computers, and the paid people don’t have time to regulate the program with any amount of efficiency or fairness.

It’s funny though, the second I saw my site without the ads – I was so happy!  It looks so much better!

I will seek professional ads from professional companies directly.  I want to know the people I’m doing business with, and I want to be able to make the guarantee for you, that if you gateway over to an advertiser – that it will be what you were looking for!

I had a lot of magazine publishers’ calls to finish up and submit last week, so I know those new articles will be coming up and getting published next week!

The links are below for the newsletter – if you want a heads up!

New White Journaling Pens

Posted in Paper Crafts at 3:33 pm by PaperDesigns

I’ve gone to the source – JetPens.com – and ordered more white journaling pens (including the elusive Uniball signo).  I’m looking forward to updating our article,  It’ll be good to see these new additions next to the ones we’ve already tested.

Our current requested articles are:  Embossing 101, Basic Inking, Sewing on Pages, and Eyelet Setting.  We’ll get started on these four, and get them published as quickly as possible.

White Journaling Pens

White Journaling Pens Comparison Article

 PaperDesignsByBarbara.com

We did it.  We finished our experiment on White Journaling Pens.  I’m sorry, I wasn’t able to get a "Signo Uniball" in time for the article – but as soon as I find one – the article will be updated.  I did manage a little Supply Shopping today – and found 2 other White Journaling Pens – I’ll test out, and then compare to the others.

But the shopping was an afterthought – on our way home from Great Falls National Park.  We had a great time, and took hundreds of pictures, and got some fresh air and sunshine!  All good things!

There have been a lot of questions about eyelets, and eyelet setting, setters, and "how -to" and "why".  So I believe that’s the next article on the agenda.  It’ll be soon – this week!

If you wish to leave an idea or suggestion for an article – feel free to use the "comment" section below or there are several email links to me on our site.

10,000 HITS!

Posted in Paper Crafts at 8:20 am by PaperDesigns

 Paper Designs By Barbara

Our site just went over 10,000 HITS!!

Which for a site that just started, really, on June 26, 2006 – is unheard of!!!  Thank you everyone for all of your support, and this wonderful welcome into the world of cyberdesigning!  From here we’re only going to get bigger and better!  More articles, more projects and their "how-to" directions, more art in the gallery, and the "seasonal" (now it’s set for Summer) page will remain a photo gallery of pictures reflecting the mood of that time of year.

Next article on the docket – white journaling pens!  We have acquired a LARGE collection of them to test – and we’ll let the products speak for themselves.  We’re going to run this as a scientific experiement (I haven’t done a good one of those since graduate school!)  We’re going to test different variables across the board for each pen, and post the results – with visuals!  You’ll see – it will be as clear as white ink on black paper!

That’s today – so come on over to the site and check it out.
