There are people who look at my art studio and say “you have A LOT of supplies” – meaning too many. But, I always feel like saying “oh no, that’s not too many – you should see my clothes!” I will freely admit that I have too many clothes. I give to the Goodwill – huge bagfuls at a time – and I still have too many. I always say it’s because I want to keep them so I can wear them when I’m that size again. And for the most part – I’ve given up on everything a size 4, 6, and 8. But I really do plan on being a 10 -12 soon – so those I’m going to keep. Then, when I am that size, I’m getting rid of all my “big” clothes. It’s a great plan – it just doesn’t help me now. So, the blog challenge is what would I do with $1000 for a clothing spending spree – and the truth is: I’d put it in the bank until I finally made the size I want to be – and then I’d have a ball buying new clothes – getting my hair and nails done – going for the ‘new me look’! Soon, very Soon!!!

There are so many wonderful people in my life that I think about, and wish the best for, but only seem to make contact with once a year in the exchange of Christmas Cards. So mine are handmade, and they have a ‘family Christmas letter’ tucked inside.
Here’s a Gallery of the ones I have started for this year. And a few I made before: Christmas Cards 1 and Christmas Cards 2.

I don’t remember too many trips we took as children, although I know there were a few. But I do remember being very young, and on a train going from the East Coast to Colorado. It was very exciting, and we slept in a pullman car. I had a window I could look from, and I stayed up as long as I could – just to watch the lights go by at night. It was pretty spectacular – well, as a 5 year old, I thought so!

I need to thank a friend of mine who told me that people were being asked to register before being able to comment on the blog. There are so many options to work through when setting up a blog, that somehow I missed that. I have “untoggled” that option – and now it should be easier for you to leave a comment, if you wish. Sorry if that had kept anyone from leaving a comment.

Christmas Past, Jeff Godsell
There’s still time! I shouldn’t have to start panicking yet!! My “handmade Christmas gifts list” is really long. There are some ‘staples’ I’m known for every year – so I can’t stop making those, and then there are all of the new projects I just can’t wait to try out! So, I’ll post my list here, and then use this list as my official “gotta get done” list to start checking off as I go!
I always make all my own cards. People expect it, and I like making them. Here’s a start MY GALLERY .
I love to embroider – I used to do it all by hand, now I have an embroidery machine. I love to monogram towel sets, bed sheets, jackets, t-shirts, etc. These are the gifts I usually give, and people are kind of looking for them…
I’ve started soap making – I don’t know why, it’s fun, fast, the kids love it, and we can custom make our own. Plus, almost everyone can use soap – or use it as bathroom decor.
We make our own ornaments. Did you know you can stamp and emboss on glass (last one on page)? Then there’s Gallery Glass, and glass etching. It’s a lot of fun.
And we love to paint those wooden cut outs. (Similar to the Halloween ones on the same page as the ‘stamp and emboss on glass’). This year we are going with crackle paint, and large scenic rub ons. I think I’ll make some from PC Hugware. Maybe something like the candles pictured.
And then there’s all the food. We went out apple picking and then canned all that gorgeous fruit immediately. It’s the best apple sauce and apple pie filling I’ve ever tasted.
I’m (very locally) famous for “Aunt Barb’s Fudge” – I have some great recipes and make a large variety every year.
We have a 4th generation Christmas Bread recipe in our family – so making that is a requirement.
And we had a bumper crop this year of tomatoes – so there’s the salsa and spaghetti sauce that we canned in pretty mason jars, ready to give as gifts.
So, some of it’s done, there’s lots more to do, and I’m really looking forward to the crafting of the season!

The blog challenge is: what do people do that really bugs me. I had to let all of this go years ago. I can’t let what other people do “bug me” – I have to make it through my day. Everyone else is choosing their own behaviour, their own words, their own actions, I can’t change that. I assume they know what they are doing/saying – and I accept that what they do/say is what they really mean. I don’t need to comment or feel “bugged” – I’m free to walk away and not be with them (and that is most often what I do). On the other hand, I cling strongly to the people who do mean the world to me. Everytime I hear about someone else’s bad actions – I hug my children more tightly (they don’t know why, they just know they are really loved!) I take the “bug me”s out of my life and replace them all with “love you”s! It’s a great way to make it through my day!

Debbie Mumm, Happy Traveler
What state would I like to live in? We were military for the last 20 years – living in so many places. I feel as if I did get the opportunity to experience (the good and the bad) many different parts of the country. But my travels have given me a unique viewpoint. I have known that if you want to make somplace better – you have to get involved, you have to try to help, not just complain about it. But, honestly, we’ve lived in some horrible places, and I knew I wouldn’t be there long enough to inact any changes, even if I wanted to. So, I didn’t, but I didn’t complain either.
Then we moved here, and we’ve put down roots. “Here” isn’t perfect (my travels have taught me that no where is). But here is perfect to me. Here are the schools I’m willing to fight for. Here are the town council meetings I’m willing to attend. It’s all about what you’re going to do, not where you are. And for this “state” of mind and “state” of being – I like this state just fine!

I’ve never given much thought to my “favorite color” – I just love color. Now I may have a favorite shade of a color, or a color scheme I prefer, but I wouldn’t say that I have one “favorite color”. But then I started thinking about it…. It sure seems like I lean towards Mauvy Pink. It’s my company’s color (along with gold and white), it’s my Christmas color (along with gold and cream), it’s my accent color in at least 3 rooms in my house. So, I guess I do have a favorite color!
I have a TON of PC Hugware – clipart. I love the stuff, so I’m going to start “embellishing” my pages here with some of it. They have a nice Angel Policy, and as long as I give them credit for their lovely art, I can use it. So, the pretty clipart (coffee mug below and card front above) are all PC Hugware. And I’ll be using more, too.

For me – that’s COFFEE, and lots of it. The good stuff, please. I freshly grind the beans, put in cold filtered water, and run the machine! UMMM! Love it – wouldn’t want to get out of bed unless I knew I’d be drinking some soon! And, of course, Fall and Winter are my favorite seasons to enjoy it (I drink it year round); I just love a warm cup of coffee when the air is cold.

I posted the card Jessica made over on Kreate-A-Lope.com. I am going to repost it here. I really liked what she was able to do with a photo. She added clipart to make a border, and then reused but resized the border to make a frame for the address. I’m a paper and glue kind of girl – and I’m usually wearing some of it on any given day – but being able to do all that digitally is really cool. I dabble in it – and those who’ve read the articles on my site, know that I love computer peripherals, but I’m not sure I’m going to ever make a complete jump to the digiworld. I like pretty paper too much!
