Blog Challenge: Preserving Holiday Memories
This is a challenge. I went through my mom’s old photos and realized she doesn’t have any of when we were kids at Christmas Time. Those pictures are gone.
Every year we take a lot of pictures. We have never lived near family and friends (military), so our only way of letting them see what our Christmas was like, was through pictures. We take pictures of everything – the tree, the dogs, the pile of presents. Most importantly, we always take pictures of the children opening their presents – and we send the photos of the ones where the children are opening a present from a relative to that relative in with the thank you card after the holidays.
So there we are, with hundreds of photos every year from Christmas. I sometimes scrap them – for us. I make a few mini-albums – for grandparents. But, what I really like, is making DVDs of all of the photos with a soundtrack of Christmas music! I can burn more copies and send them out as gifts. But, what I have when they are done – is a library of yearly photos on DVD that I can watch as a movie, or, if I ever need them, can have printed out.

I just updated my Christmas Card Gallery with another 32 cards. I made them using two kits from CK. Of course, by using the same supplies, they are similar – but each is it’s own card. I now just have to address them, and mail them out!
Blog Challenge: I can’t think of anything that anyone in my life does that bothers me at this time of year. We’ll have some wonderful Christmas parties – all will go well. Dh puts up enough lights to cause an energy shortage – I just smile and am thrilled that he’s into the Holiday Spirit – if only in his own way. The children will be excited, and talking at 100 mph from now until after New Year’s – I just enjoy the noise, and keep every moment I can preserved in my heart. You see, I know the day is coming when our little ones won’t be little – or at home for Christmas. I spend all of my time (especially at this time of year) in giving thanks for the wonderful life I’ve been blessed with.

I’m just putting in my Christmas Cards here for color. If you really want to see some gorgeous cards, please visit our Winter Holiday Cards Gallery! One thing I’ve noticed, if say I were to put up a whole gallery of my Christmas Cards (and I do actually have one) the cards are very similar, as they are from the same person. The beauty of a large Gallery/Contest is the many varied samples you’ll get to see! There’s something for everyone there! And as I check in on it – it keeps growing daily! I’m thrilled!
The blog challenge: We have a few Christmas traditions that we always find a way to make time for during our Holiday Season. One of them is fudge making. I love to invent new recipes every year – and it just keeps working out better and better. We also have a 4 generation old recipe for Christmas bread that gets made every year. Another tradition – my husband and children and I always make ornaments together. We may make a few on our own, but at least once we’ll all sit down together to make a collection of them! This year, tonight is that night. I bought a few of the wooden cut out ornaments (some with stained glass in the middle), and I’ll pull out some paint brushes and my metallic acrylic paints, and then, while the Eagles tackle the Panthers (Monday Night Football) the kids, my husband and I will tackle getting to all of those ornaments! It’ll be fun – I can’t wait to see them all done!

The Winter Holiday Cards Contest is open, and the first page is already filled! I love looking at Christmas cards. It’s so much fun to see them, make them, and send them! And I really enjoy receiving them:)
The blog challenge: Name 5 things I enjoyed today…
Of course, we feel so blessed there are always so many more than 5!!
I went with my friend to Glamour Shots! That was fun, we’ve never done that. It was a whole new experience.
A neighbor I don’t get to see very often dropped by and showed me her cool scrapbook finds from Big Lots – of all places. Hey scrapbook supplies at rock bottom prices – I’m there!
I colored my hair – now I’m not saying that I enjoyed it, per se, but it came out nice – so I’m glad the dark roots are gone!
I made a big dinner with rotisserie chicken, rice, mashed potatoes, and corn. I enjoyed sitting down with my family and eating a meal and sharing our day.
I got the Christmas Village up! I enjoyed putting it up, but I enjoy it even more just looking at it!
