Harry Potter and Audio CDs

I told my mother about a new thing that’s helping me with my productivity and she just laughed. Apparently she discovered books on cd (or cassette) years ago. For me it started Friday night. The children and I went out at midnight and bought the final book in the Harry Potter series. Well, we were leaving on a trip first thing in the morning, and I found it difficult to read in the car. So my husband had the idea to pop into the nearest Walmart and see if they had any books on cd left. I think they had two left, but in any case, we did get one, and listened all the way on our way up and back from our excursion. However, it is 21 hours long and on 17 CDs, so, we only made it to the 4th CD.
I just couldn’t wait to see what was happening with Harry, and I had lots to do in my new work room, so I headed down, put on the next set of CDs and worked and listened. After I had the room clean and organized, I still had several CDs left, so I began card making. I just couldn’t leave without knowing how it was all going to end. Afterall, as I explained to my mom, it’s been a part of the last 10 years of my life! So I worked and listened – unfortunately I hadn’t put up a wall clock yet, and when Jim Dale finished the Epilogue, I realized it was 3am! Oh well, at least I slept better knowing.

Yeah! You are done now we can talk about the book. You were productive while listening unlike me who’s creativity is on vacation. Talk to you soon!

Yes, I’d love to talk about it. I loved it, and am only sad that it’s all done. I picked up the other Harry Potter books on CD, and am starting with book 1 all over again. I find I get so much more out of the CD. Jim Dale, the narrator, is incredible, and I can actually “see” what he is describing. Also, I hate to admit it, but I tend to skim when I read, and I may have missed info the first time around.

I finished reading the book Tuesday afternoon. My gosh was that a good book! LOVED it!! I’m thinking about getting the lot on CD and giving it a go at listening to them instead of reading them. Then my boys can hear them as well without my butchering words that to me seem near impossible to pronounce…LOL!

I know what you mean. I find that I miss out on the meaning of some paragraphs, too = just misread what it meant, or skimmed a little. With the books on CD I get every word, every nuance. I find I’m much more into the book when I’m listening to it = and of course, I get a lot more done!
