The blog challenge asks if we like to go to the pumpkin patch and pick our pumpkins – or do we just buy them at the store….
This picture speaks for itself – we love to go! It provides some of the best background for great fall family photos. The colors are so perfect. I wouldn’t miss it – even if we didn’t go to get our pumpkins…
But also pick up our apples there, too. It’s a fantastic orchard – with THE best apples we’ve ever tasted. And seeing I love apples and have eaten them all of my life – that’s saying something!
So we filled 2 huge bags last year and made apple sauce and apple pie filling. And given how many we ate – it still wasn’t enough. We’re going today to get at least 3 bags, maybe 4.

I just finished a set of Halloween Cards – (if you click on the link to the right, you can see them all individually). I had a lot of fun stamping and coloring in the designs. There’s glitter for the Cat’s eyes (green). the witch’s hair (red) and the skeleton’s eyes (copper). I’ve put them in My Etsy Store, but I’ll be making more for my younger relatives. We all really love Halloween!
My friend, Linda , pointed me to a great medium for colored pencils. When you use Gamsol (or other artist quality mineral spirits) – you can come over your colored-in drawings, and it will break down the wax in the color, and smooth out the lines. It creates an effect very similar to a watercolor pencil after you’ve washed the color with water – after drawing. Very neat, I had a great time working with this.
The blog challenge asks what are my scrapping plans this weekend. I have a few – I plan to make more cards – and yes, I know I need to get started on my Christmas ones! Also, we are taking the kids in to have our Christmas portraits taken. It’s always fun to walk in a store with the 4 of us dressed to the hilt! We do tend to get some looks – we usually look like we just came from a wedding. So I’ll have projects to complete, and more photos being taken to scrap later!

This card is going into my ETSY store today.

The blog challenge question for today asks if I ever sell handmade cards/crafts at craft fairs, and how did I do.
Well, I did do the Craft Show Circuit for nearly 2 decades – and I did alright, but it is tiring. There are a lot of upfront costs (materials, time, booth rental, and travel expenses). The experienced craft show people will tell you – it’s all about eye candy. It’s how your booth looks and how you present your crafts.
I have, however, realized that I want to conduct my designing career from my house, and not go out to the shows as often. So I have started selling my cards and crafts on ETSY. It’s similar to an EBay store (no bidding), but it is specifically for hand made crafts. In this way, I hope to build my clientele list and business.
It should take a little while to get all of the current items I have from the Craft Boutique up into the ETSY store. After that, if I have enough product to do another fair – it would be best to do so – and hand out cards/flyers for my ETSY store while I’m there.
